DIYARBAKIR - 245 PKK terrorists escaping from camps in north of Iraq have surrendered to Turkish security forces in the past two and half years, official sources reported.
They said that PKK terrorists from camps such as Kandil, Hakurk, Hinere, Haftanin and Metina gave them up to take advantage of a law known as "Active Remorse Law" that has been in force since June 1st, 2005.
After being taken in custody, they have been released from prison for quitting the terrorist organization voluntarily before committing any crime.
The terrorists surrendered especially within the borders of provinces such as Sirnak, Siirt, Batman, Mardin, Diyarbakir, Bingol and Sanliurfa. They also provided important intelligence on PKK to Turkish security forces.
