ANKARA - Trial trip between Ankara and Istanbul of speed train will be made on Tuesday after a ceremony in which also Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim will participate.
The speed train which will start its regular trips on June 4 will cover 567 kilometers of railway distance between Ankara and Istanbul in 4.5 hours with an average speed of 150 km/h.
Releasing a statement on Monday, the Turkish Railways (TCDD) Directorate General said that a ceremony would take place at Ankara Train Station on Tuesday before trial trip of the speed train.
It said that the project including renewal of rails, upgrading of railway ties and switches cost 5 million U.S. dollars.
