TANKER NIGHTMARE ENDS IN STRAITS
Russian oil will enter Turkey by a terminal near Kiyikoy at Black Sea coast in order not to cause a disaster at Straits due to busy tanker traffic. The oil will then reach Aegean Sea by an oil pipeline which will be constructed to Ibrice district at Saros Gulf.

PKK ENDS CEASE-FIRE
PKK terrorist organization announced that it will end cease-fire as of June 1 which it declared unilaterally on September 1, 1998. PKK stated that the cease-fire would not be valid because of annihilation operations of Turkish Security Forces in the last three months.

KURDISH ORGANIZATION OFFICIAL GUEST AT ERDOGAN'S MEETING
Kurdish Solidarity Organization Chairman Ihsan Kadir was among the official guests of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's meeting with Turkish representatives in London.

ERDOGAN: WE WILL OVERCOME THOSE WHO RESIST
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that marginal circles were resisting to the reforms which were adopted on the path to the European Union (EU). He said, ''resistance was shown against broadcast in mother tongue, but it is being overcome. There is resistance in education issue. But we will overcome these as well.''

HONG: WE COME TO TURKEY AT THE RIGHTEST TIME
World Association of Newspapers (WAN) Chairman Seok Hyun Hong said that Turkish journalists have been trying to host WAN Congress for a long time and to show important developments in freedom of press and economic successes to the world. He added that they came to Turkey at the rightest time.

HEADSCARF PROBLEM AT IMAM HATIP SCHOOLS ISSUE
While vetoing the law regarding Imam Hatips (schools for education of Islamic clerics), President Ahmet Necdet Sezer referred to secularism article of the Constitution on which Constitutional Court based its ban on headscarf. Sezer can veto all arrangements regarding Imam Hatips due to reference to this unchangeable sentence of the Constitution.

FORENSIC MEDICINE CRITERIA
The European Union Commission said in its report that the presence of Forensic Medicine Branch Offices was a pressure on doctors and stated that the doctors who were working in the same place with public prosecutor and judge could not be neutral.

SEZER'S LAW LESSON
Politicians, academicians and non-governmental organizations considered positive and appropriate the reasons of President Ahmet Necdet Sezer for vetoing Higher Education Board (YOK) Law. YOK Chairman Prof. Tezic said that everybody should read the reasons carefully. Trakya University Rector Prof. Inci said that Sezer gave a law lesson to all circles.

81 KG OF HEROIN CONFISCATED
Security forces confiscated 81 kg and 503 grams of heroin in an operation in Gurpinar town of eastern Van province. Van Security Director Tacettin Kurt said that the heroin operation have connections abroad.

ERDOGAN: IMAM-HATIPS ARE SECULAR SCHOOLS
Upon President Ahmet Necdet Sezer's veto on Higher Education Board (YOK) Law, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, ''Mister President used his right of discretion.'' Erdogan said that how can imam hatips, which have not been against secularism until a while ago, have become against secularism today.

BOMB TRIAL TO LAST FIVE DAYS
First hearing of the lawsuit, which was filed against 69 convicts regarding the bomb attacks that were launched in Istanbul on November 15 and 20, 2003 and killing 57 people and injuring 644 others, will be held tomorrow. As the number of convicts are much, the hearing will last for five days.

EQUAL WAGE FOR EQUAL JOB
A total of 1,434 different wage policies are being fulfilled in various institutions of the state. The government will implement State Personnel Regime to eliminate this injustice in wages distribution.

ERDOGAN: IF NATO ASKS, WE WILL SEND SOLDIERS
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that a Parliamentary decision was not needed for sending soldiers to Afghanistan. He added that the situation was different for Iraq because NATO is not present in Iraq. He said that if NATO went to Iraq and requested soldiers from Turkey, Turkey would undertake its responsibility.

PKK'S ''CEASE-FIRE'' ENDED STATEMENT CAUSES UNEASINESS
Statement of terrorist PKK/KADEK organization that it ended cease-fire as of June 1, which it continued since 1998, caused uneasiness in the eastern and southeastern regions. Diyarbakir Mayor Baydemir said, ''Diyarbakir does not want to return to the sorrowful days of the past. It is time for reconstruction from now on. This is the desire of everybody in Turkey.''
