Northern Cyprus MFA Says September 5th Dated Proposal Of Trnc Overlaps With Ban Ki-moon's Unficyp Report

LEFKOSA - Foreign Ministry of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon`s report --suggesting the extension of the mandate of United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyrus (UNFICYP) for 6 more months-- overlapped with the September 5th, 2007 dated proposal of the Turkish Cypriot side.
According to a written statement issued from the foreign affairs ministry of TRNC, though the report on UNFICYP had not yet been included in the agenda in UN Security Council, it contained important points.
The statement said the Greek Cypriot administration, other countries and international bodies that displayed interest in the Cyprus issue should take into consideration Ban Ki-Moon`s remarks (in the report) suggesting that the removal of embargoes on the Turkish Cypriot people would contribute to compromise and to the solution of the issue.
According to the statement, TRNC MFA will make a more detailed assessment on the report once it was discussed at the UN security Council.
On the other hand, sources said TRNC FM Turgay Avci will travel to Brussels upon an invitation from the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) in the European Parliament (EP).
Avci will deliver speeches at conferences at the EP, hold talks with members of the EP and hold a joint press conference with them.
Avci is also expected to meet Graham Watson, the leader of ALDE.
