ISTANBUL - Turkish police confiscated 70.5 kg of heroin and 33 kg of hashish in Istanbul and northwestern Bursa province, narcotic directorate said on Friday.
Releasing a statement, narcotic directorate stated that police confiscated 17 kg of heroin hidden in secret compartments of a truck in an operation on May 20, 2004 and said that narcotic teams seized 22 kg of heroin in an operation in Bursa.
In another operation, police confiscated 25.8 kg of heroin in Bagcilar district of Istanbul on May 23, 2004.
Police also seized 33 kg of hashish and 5 kg of heroin in operations in Kadikoy and Fatih districts of Istanbul.
A total of 51 people including foreign people were detained in connection with confiscated items.
