ANKARA - Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Tuesday that several arrangements were made to eliminate structural problems in tax system and provide a sustainable growth as well as recover investment milieu to increase employment rate during the ruling of Justice & Development (AK) Party government.
Unakitan introduced the draft law on 2008 Central Administration Budget.
Unakitan said that basic goal of tax policies is to set an effective and simple taxation system which supports growth and employment policies that are coherent with macro-economic policies.
He added that for the next period, the government aims to speed up the process for transition to registered economy, and within that scope tax regulation will be simplified, and implementation will be made more effective.
Unakitan said that efforts are under way to re-write tax income law with a simpler language. He added that they plan to present the draft law on new taxation system to the parliament in the next period.
Unakitan noted that tax procedure law will also be revised and given a shape which will be understood and implemented more easily.
Unakitan said that they will continue to strengthen the structure of Revenue Administration, thus tax inspections will be made more effective and prevalent. He added that they will take stricter measures against tax evasion and unregistered economy.
