Turkey Is Second Most Preferred Destination After Spain For Swedish, Ambassador Asp
ADANA - Swedish Ambassador in Ankara Christer Asp said Monday that Turkey is the second most preferred destination after Spain for Swedish nationals.
In a visit made to the Adana Governor Ilhan Atis on Monday, Ambassador Asp indicated that they expect 400,000 Swedish tourists to arrive in Turkey in summer 2008.
"Our retired citizens used to settle in Spain following retirement. Now, they choose Turkey for settlement following retirement," Asp noted.
"At one time, there were opponents to Sweden`s membership in the European Union (EU). However, we overcame those objections. Turkey must continue its EU process. Turkish membership in the EU will present an advantage for other countries as well. We fully support Turkey`s membership in the EU," Asp underlined.
