IZMIR - Chief Executive Officer of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO) Ekrem Demirtas said Monday that commercial relations between Turkey and Hungary have been developing rapidly since 2000.
A seminar titled "Hungary Business and Investment Seminar" kicked off in Izmir on Monday.
"Looking at the geographical proximity between Turkey and Hungary, our trade relations should be at a better position," Demirtas noted.
"Turkish-Hungarian joint investments have not developed well. Turkish investments in Hungary, compared to those in other central and eastern Europe countries, are very low. However, commercial relations between Turkey and Hungary demonstrated growth since the year 2000. There are 200 Turkish companies working in Hungary. As of 2007, there are 21 Hungarian companies active in the Turkish market," Demirtas indicated.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Frenc Miklossy remarked that important developments took place in Turkey in the past five years. "Important commercial activities took place between Turkey and Hungary in the past five years. Our goal is to increase commercial relations between Turkey and Hungary. We can especially develop ties in thermal and health tourism," Miklossy stressed.
IZTO and the Hungarian delegation signed a commercial cooperation agreement in Izmir on Monday.
