Turkish Parliament To Start Debating New Budget On Tuesday

ANKARA - Turkish parliament will start debating the draft budget of 2008 on Tuesday.
Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan will submit the draft budget to parliament on Tuesday. The parliament will discuss the new budget between December 4th and 14th without interruption.
Mustafa Acikalin and Saban Disli of the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party, chairman Deniz Baykal of the Republican People`s Party (CHP), chairman Devlet Bahceli of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and Fatma Kurtulan and Hasip Kaplan of the Democratic Society Party (DTP), will take the floor to express views of their parties.
PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan will then respond to criticisms of chairmen of opposition parties.
The Planning & Budget Committee of the Turkish parliament adopted the draft budget on November 22nd.
The draft envisages budgetary expenditures as 222.5 billion new Turkish liras (YTL) and the revenues around 204.6 billion YTL.
According to the draft, the budget deficit will be 17.9 billion YTL in 2008.
