Minimum Wage Fixing Commission Meets In Ankara

ANKARA - The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission met in Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday.
The commission will set the minimum wage to be valid in 2008.
The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission consists of five representatives of workers, five representatives of employers and five government representatives.
The minimum wage is actually net 419 new Turkish liras (YTL) for workers above 16.
The government program for 2008 foresees six percent rise in minimum wage in January.
In its first meeting, the commission demanded the Treasury Undersecretariat, State Planning Organization and Turkish Board of Statistics to brief itself on various economic figures in order to set the new minimum wage.
The commission then adjourned the meeting till December 13th.
