LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas was welcomed as a state guest in Pakistan on Thursday.
Denktas is paying a visit to Pakistan as the official guest of Pakistani government as a part of diplomatic initiatives launched in order to end isolation of Turkish Cypriot people.
TRNC Foreign Minister Denktas and accompanying delegation were welcomed as the state guest at Islamabad Airport.
Denktas will have official meetings in Islamabad later in the day.
TRNC asked international community to end isolation of Turkish Cypriot people and lift embargoes imposed on the country after the majority of its people voted ''yes'' to United Nations (UN) Secretary General Kofi Annan's plan for a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem in simultaneous referenda held in Cyprus on April 24.
Majority of the Greek Cypriot people rejected the plan. Therefore, the plan was not put into practice in the island.
