LUCERNE - Turkish national football team coach Fatih Terim said Sunday his team was drawn in a very competitive group with Switzerland, Portugal and Czech Republic.
"All teams will compete to obtain the first place in the group," he told a press conference following Euro 2008 draw.
"Portugal is the finalist of recent European championship and a tough rival. Czech Republic completed group matches very well. Switzerland is a good team and the host of the championship. This will be a great advantage for them," Terim said.
"It doesn`t matter who we are paired with in the first game, we just have to play well," he noted.
When asked about the controversial match with Switzerland in Istanbul, Terim said, "Switzerland has long been our friend."
"What happened on the pitch remains on the pitch. The last person I embraced before coming here was Swiss team captain Alex Frei. So you can see there is no problem," he added.
