PARIS - Boats will sail from France to Turkey for a race, which was promoted at the Paris International Boat Show on Saturday.
The boat race, which first took start in 2006 from Marseilles to Istanbul, was held from Cannes to Istanbul last year. Boats will set sail from Nice for the third race on September 12th to become the first to arrive in Istanbul after covering a 1670-nautical-miles-long route.
"Each year, we take start from a different French city," said Cumali Varer, the organizer of the race.
"Our route has changed this year. Sailors will take start from Nice and then stop in Cagliari, Syracuse (Italy) and Crete (Greece). After stopping in Bozcaada (Turkey) they will arrive in Istanbul in October," Varer told the A.A.
"Our race will become a classic in the Mediterranean," he added.
