Turkey Will Continue Privatization: Finance Minister

WASHINGTON - Turkey would continue privatization initiatives, Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Wednesday.
Unakitan, who is in the United States to attend the meeting of investment company Russel 20-20, told Turkish reporters that he discussed situation of Turkish economy and privatization initiatives with officials of the investment company.
Turkish Finance Minister Unakitan said that Turkey would eliminate obstacles before privatization.
Unakitan noted that officials of the investment company asked questions on privatization, macro economy, European Union (EU) process, economy and policies of Turkey.
The company was interested in direct investments in Turkey and was searching for a partner in Turkey, Unakitan stated.
Unakitan invited officials of the company to Turkey.
Turkish Finance Minister Unakitan forecast that tender process for Telekom's privatization would start mid-July.
Unakitan will go to New York to meet with other investors.
Turkish Finance Minister Unakitan, who came to the United States earlier in the day, is expected to return to Turkey on Saturday.
