TBILISI - The United National Council of nine opposition parties in Georgia said Saturday one of its activists was kidnapped and beaten, while a raid was carried out at one of its offices.
United People's Movement opposition party spokeswoman Nino Sturua told AFP that the coalition's office was raided in Tskaltubo.
In a separate episode, she said, the head of the coalition's campaign office in Gardabani was "kidnapped and badly beaten up" by unknown men in masks.
The alleged incidents follow opposition demonstrations in November that led President Mikheil Saakashvili to declare a snap presidential poll in January.
Interior ministry spokesman Shota Khizanishvili said he was not aware of the incidents.
"I do not know anything about it. Opposition activists should inform us if something has happened," Khizanishvili said.
