German Ambassador Cites Close Cooperaton Between German, Turkish Security Departments

DIYARBAKIR - German Ambassador in Ankara Eckart Cuntz said Thursday Turkish and German security departments are cooperating closely.
Ambassador`s remark came just hours after Turkish Justice Ministry said Germany extradited two members of the terrorist organization PKK to Turkey.
The two terrorists, who were identified as Mehmet Iltas and Mehmet Esref Kizilay, were wanted with red-notice and they were captured in Germany in September and March this year.
"There is a close cooperation between our security departments and they are working together to fight against terrorist organizations," Cuntz told the A.A.
Ambassador also said Germany appealed to Turkey for the extradition of a man named Atilla S., who was captured by Turkish security teams in the central city of Konya earlier this month.
The man, a German national, was wanted by Germany for his alleged involvement with the terrorist organization al-Qaida. Cuntz added that Turkish authorities were still assessing the request.
