ANKARA - Turkish Interior Minister Besir Atalay said on Thursday that there was no development as regards to the abduction of Edip Savci, the priest of Mor Yakup Monastery in Baristepe Village in Mardin town in southeastern province of Mardin.
Responding to the questions of reporters, Atalay said security units in the region are busy to find the priest. On the other hand, Mardin Governor`s Office established a crisis desk to pursue and coordinate works on the incident.
In an earlier statement, Mardin Governor`s Office said car of Savci was found abandoned on November 28th in the afternoon, and later an unidentified person called a priest from the Syriac Community and asked for 300,000 euro as ransom to release Savci.
