Minimum Wage Fixing Commission To Convene On May 28

ANKARA - The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission will hold its first meeting on May 28 to set the new minimum wage which will be valid as of July 1, 2004.
New minimum wages, which will be valid for six months, will be fixed after the meetings of the commission.
The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission is comprised of five workers, five employers and five representatives of the government.
While the Confederation of Turkish Labor Unions (Turk-Is) represents workers at the commission, employers are represented by the Confederation of Employers' Unions (TISK).
The current net minimum wage is 303 million 79 thousand 500 Turkish liras (TL) for workers who are above 16 years and 257 million 940 thousand TL for workers who are under 16 years.
