RABAT - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc met on Tuesday with Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou.
Speaking at the meeting, Jettou said Turkey was important for Morocco, and that they attributed importance to improvement of relations between the two countries.
Jettou said he had paid a visit to Turkey a while ago and met Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He said the free trade agreement signed in Ankara was very important for them. Jettou said they wanted agreements on dual taxation and preservation of investments to take effect soon.
Jettou said his country supported Turkey's EU full membership.
Moroccan Prime Minister said Turkish private sector had been given privileged relations in Morocco before they signed agreements and that Turkish companies made business in this country having equal conditions with the other companies particularly in public works.
Jettou said Turkish companies successfully carried out a motorway project, worth of 400 million U.S. dollars in this country.
Arinc in his part said he was pleased to visit Morocco as Parliament Speaker, noting that there was no political problem between the two countries.
Arinc said Parliament would soon approve free trade agreement signed between the two countries.
Arinc said positive relations between the two countries would continue in international platform, and called on support from Morocco, and important member of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to extend support for Prof. Ekmelettin Ihsanoglu, Turkey's candidate for the office of OIC Secretary General.
Arinc said the two countries should act together on Palestinian and Iraqi issues and adopt similar attitudes.
Moroccan Prime Minister Jettou said authorized organs of his country would examine Turkey's request regarding office of OIC Secretary General.
Jettou said peace and security atmosphere that would be formed in Palestine and Iraq would prevent terrorism.
