Turkish F.M. Leaves For United States

ANKARA - Turkish FM Ali Babacan left on Sunday for the United States to participate in a Middle East conference.
The conference will begin in U.S. city of Annapolis on Monday and last for two days.
"We have welcomed the decision of Saudi Arabia and Syria to participate in the conference," Babacan told reporters before he flew to the United States.
Babacan said the conference will focus on Israeli-Palestinian issue and wished it will have concrete and fruitful results for the region.
Earlier, a Foreign Ministry statement said Turkey will maintain its active contribution to searches for peace and stability in the region and efforts to build a common future in the region.
Annapolis conference will launch serious peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine for the first time in seven years.
The United States invited more than 40 countries to the conference. Representatives of the United Nations, International Monetary Fund and World Bank are also expected to attend the conference.
