Wide Support From Turkish Business Community To ' Turkey Gala' To Be Held Under The Annual Meeting Of Wef In Davos

ISTANBUL - The 'Turkey Gala' to be held under the annual meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland between January 23rd and 27th, 2008, received wide support from the Turkish Business Community.
According to a joint statement issued by Dogan Media Group, Koc Group, Dogus Group and Sabanci Group, Turkish businessmen Ali Koc, Ferit Sahenk and Mehmet Ali Yalcindag got together with WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab in Genova.
According to the statement, Shwab said he was impressed with the events that would be held under the theme "360 degrees Turkey" at the meeting where the preparations for the gala night to be held on January 26th, 2008 was assessed.
"I know Turks and I am already excited. I believe Turks will give us the most unforgettable night in Davos," Shwab said.
Schwab suggested that PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan should attend the session on the future of the EU as a speaker along with European PMs.
On the other hand, Arzuhan Dogan Yalcindag, the chairperson of the Turkish Industrialists' & Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD), and Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Sarik Tara, the chairman of the Enka Group Board of Executives, said they would support the organization of the event in every possible way.
Suzan Sabanci, a member of the initiative that came together to organize the 'Gala Soiree' --official closing gala-- said, "in our age the Davos meetings have become one of the most important platforms where global issues are addressed and solved. Turkey's representation in such a platform is an important matter."
On the other hand, Ali Koc said, "Davos meeting and the gala night to be organised with our joint efforts will be an important platform for us to tell about ourselves and of our place in the world conjuncture."
The gala with the theme '360 degrees Turkey' will underline that Turkey -- the meeting point of the the east and west, the north and south, the cradle of civilizations -- is the place to be and Istanbul is the new center of attraction in Europe, said the statement.
