ANKARA - Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan said Saturday fight against terrorism yields result if it is done in a democratic atmosphere.
"Terrorist organizations and the forces behind them have taken action when Turkey reached the stage of developing more and more," he told participants of the regular general assembly meeting of Moral Rights Workers Union (Hak-Is) in Ankara.
Toptan said some circles try to make Turkey divert its resources and energy to counter terrorism, instead of enhancing its democracy and getting more developed.
"These intrigues will not affect Turkey and Turkey will never give up its democratic achievements. Turkey will continue to broaden fundamental rights and freedoms," he said.
Toptan also said Turkey will not only combat terrorism but also maintain its development and growth.
