KSANTHI - Famous Turkish violoncellist Sedef Ercetin and Greek pianist Maria Papapetropulu gave joint concerts in western Thrace's Ksanthi and Komotini cities.
The concers were co-organized by Turkey's Consulate General in Komotini, Governorship of Rodop, Municipality of Ksanthi and Western Thrace Minority Association of the Highly Educated. The concerts took place on November 22nd and 23rd.
The concerts were attended by the Turkish minority with great interest.
Sedef Ercetin and Maria Papapetropulu received the 1999 Abdi Ipekci Friendship and Peace Prize for their contribution to Turkish-Greek friendship.
Meanwhile, the concert in Ksanthi was also attended by Saime Toptan, the Chairwoman of Turkey Disabled's Education and Solidarity Foundation (OZEV) and wife of Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan. Toptan arrived in western Thrace upon an invitation by Isik Ahmet, the wife of late Sadik Ahmet who founded the Friendship, Equality and Peace (DEB) party.
Saime Toptan will participate in ceremonies to celebrate November 24th Teachers' Day and will deliver a speech in Komotini titled "Universal Values and Happiness Experienced by Humans."
