LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Monday that Greek Cypriots aimed to fulfill what they could not do by weapons, through the European Union (EU).
Denktas added that 35 percent of Turkish Cypriots claimed their sovereignty and state in the referendum, noting that there was a very sound structure of 35 percent.
Denktas added, ''the solution is to tell the meaning of referendum to the whole world and to stress that a new initiative cannot be launched without accepting the realities.''
Noting that referendums were held to determine the future of a nation, Denktas said that two separate referendums were held in Cyprus and Cyprus has two owners, adding that the referendum was held to take a decision for future.
Denktas noted that Turkey has said that it had sine qua nons during Cyprus negotiations, but it made immense propaganda especially on TRNC citizens of Turkish origin for making them vote ''yes'' before sine qua nons were not met.
