ANKARA - Turkish dailies published news stories eulogizing the Turkish national soccer team and the coach Fatih Terim after Turkey defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 in its last match in the Group C of Euro 2008 qualifying round on Wednesday and secured a spot in the finals.
Hurriyet daily said "footballers of Turkish national soccer team were again heroes last night. The national team presented a victory to the nation and made their name written on Euro 2008 finals."
In regard to Turkish national soccer team's achievement, Milliyet headlined that "We're in Europe".
The daily said, "the team defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina in Istanbul. With this victory, Turkey qualified to Euro 2008 finals. The team's victory was celebrated with a great joy across the country."
On the other hand, Sabah newspaper said Turkey succeeded to go to the European Championship for the third time. "Turkish national soccer team achieved an extremely difficult objective. It first won in Norway. With the goal of Nihat, we defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina Wednesday night. We are at a point where we deserved," it stated.
