ISTANBUL - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili received Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul late on Friday.
The meeting at the Swisshotel where Saakashvili is staying lasted nearly fifty minutes.
Replying to questions of reporters after the meeting which was close to press, Erdogan said that they had exchanged opinions in detail on political, economic, commercial and cultural matters between Turkey and Georgia.
Noting that they had exchanged opinions also on overcoming several problems related particularly to truck transportation, Erdogan said that they had also discussed issues related to visa. Erdogan said that Georgia was very tolerant toward the issue and they wanted the Turkish side to show same tolerance.
Erdogan said they had also received request for much investments by Turkish entrepreneurs in Georgia.
Replying to a question, Erdogan said that the Georgian President had not talked about dual citizenship. Regarding opening of border gates, Erdogan said that they would assess the issue.
