COLOGNE - Turkish National Education Minister Huseyin Celik, who is currently in Germany, met Wednesday representatives of Turkish non-governmental organizations in Germany, Turkish education attaches and Turkish students studying in German universities.
"Our citizens told me that they felt uneasy about one matter, what they defined was almost an assimilation, but called integration. Our government has held necessary talks with German government about the matter and we will continue to hold these talks. We have to make Turkish population in Germany more influential," Celik told reporters in Cologne.
Meanwhile, Celik, who was scheduled to participate in a meeting of education ministries of Middle Eastern, African and G-8 countries to take place in Bonn, decided not to attend the meeting since it was not a ministerial conference.
Celik will return to Turkey late Wednesday.
