ISTANBUL - Turkish Director Semih Kaplanoglu's award winning film "egg" (Yumurta) was awarded with Silver Caravelle at the Estoril Eruopean Films Festival held in Portugal.
The festival jury consisting of Miquel Barceló, Stéphane Braunschweig, Don DeLillo, Asia Argento and Ruy Duarte De Carvalho chose Kaplanoglu's 'egg' as the second best film of the festival.
Turkish actor Nejat Isler and young actress Saadet Isil Aksoy play the leading roles in "Yumurta".
The movie tells the story of Yusuf, a young poet who returns to his home village he hasn't visited for years after his mother's death.
The movie collected numerous awards from several international festivals; Eurimages award, at the European Film Festival held in Seville, Spain; "Best Director" award at the World Film Festival of Bangkok, Thailand; and "Best Film," "Best Screenplay," "Best Costume," and "Best Art Director" awards at the Golden Orange Film Festival in Antalya, Turkey.
Turkish actress Saadet Isil Aksoy was awarded the best actress for her role in "Yumurta" (Egg).
On the other hand another Turkish Director, Fatih Haciosmaoglu's film "Tas Yastik" (Stone pillow) will be screened at the Cairo Film Festival (between November 27th- December 7th) .
