FM Ali Babacan said rapid and surprise reforms will follow the budget discussions at the parliament. Babacan also said, "we will keep short the process between discussion of reforms at the parliament and their approval by the president." However, Babacan refrained from talking about the content of reforms.
OVAL OFFICE TRIO MET AGAIN
The "trilateral meeting" between high-level military officials of Turkey and the USA took place in Ankara on Tuesday. Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President George W. Bush decided to activate the trilateral mechanism against the terrorist organization PKK during their meeting in Washington D.C.
Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of the multinational force in Iraq, and Gen. James Cartwright, the vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, met Gen. Ergin Saygun, the deputy chief of Turkish General Staff.
U.S. generals emphasized that PKK is "a common enemy" in the meeting that lasted about three and a half hours.

TWO TURKS ESCAPED FROM ABU GHARAIB
Burhan Kus and Sadettin Akdas, the suspects of the al-Qaida's bomb attacks in Istanbul between November 15th and 20th, 2003, and who were captured in Iraq, escaped from Abu Gharaib Prison.
Kus and Akdas, who fled to Iraq after the bomb attacks in Istanbul, were captured by coalition forces and put to Abu Gharaib Prison. However, it was later understood that Kus and Akdas escaped during a transfer in the prison in April.
SURPRISE VISIT TO ANKARA
Actors of the mechanism that was formed against PKK during the meeting of Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President George Bush, met in Ankara yesterday (Tuesday).
Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General James Cartwright, and Multinational Force in Iraq (MNF-I) Commander, General David Petraeus, met General Ergun Saygun, Deputy Chief of the Turkish General Staff.
The Turkish party asked to share satellite surveillance about the activity in PKK camps.

The same day two US Generals (Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General James Cartwright, and Multinational Force in Iraq (MNF-I) Commander, General David Petraeus) came to Ankara, a panic statement came from the terrorist organisation PKK. "Turkey and USA agreed to take us out. Suddenly, the Kurdish groups in the north of Iraq took sides against us. They are forcing us to lay down weapons and surrender," said the number two man of PKK to a news agency supporting the terrorist organisation.
BULGARIA DROWNED EDIRNE
When Bulgaria opened the gates of the Arda river, Edirne was left under floods. Kapikule and Pazarkule border passes could not be used.

BUYUKANIT TO MEET ERDOGAN
After the critical meeting at the General Staff HQ (between two U.S. generals and Deputy Chief of General Staff Gen. Ergin Saygun), Chief of General Staff Yasar Buyukanit will meet PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The meeting will take place at the Prime Ministry building on Tuesday. Buyukanit is expected to brief Erdogan on the first meeting of the trilateral mechanism. Gen. Saygun met Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of the multinational force in Iraq, and Gen. James Cartwright, the vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, on Tuesday.

SAME SUFFERING IN EDIRNE
Meric and Tunca rivers overflowed when Bulgaria opened the dams on Arda because of torrential rains in this country. Karaagac district was inundated again. Many houses and work places were damaged. Pazarkule and Kapikule were closed to transportation. 100 dwellings in Karaagac were evacuated.

GUL: WE WILL REVIVE SILK ROAD
President Abdullah Gul left for Tbilisi to attend ground-breaking ceremony of Georgian part of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.
Gul said the project would revive historical Silk Road. Gul also met Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in Tbilisi.
GUL APPROVES APPROVES NUCLEAR POWER PLANT LAW
President Abdullah Gul approved the law on the establishment, operation of nuclear power plants and sale of energy. The law was earlier vetoed by the 10th President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
PEOPLE WILL GIVE THE RESPONSE
PM Erdogan said, "there is no place to terrorism, violence and bloodshed in the book of democracy and law. Those who hope for help from tensions with street demonstrations, will be redundant with the commonsensical stance of the nation."

TRILATERAL SUMMIT IN ANKARA AGAINST TERRORISM
U.S. generals James Cartwright and David Petraeus paid a surprise visit to Ankara on Tuesday. They had a meeting with Deputy Chief of General Staff Gen. Ergin Saygun at the General Staff HQ. They discussed Iraq, ongoing cooperation in fight against the "common enemy" -- the terrorist organization PKK -- and comprehensive share of intelligence.
IT WILL BE A MISTAKE TO CLOSE DTP
Daniel Cohn-Bendit, the co-chairperson of the Group of the Greens at the European Parliament, said it will be a big mistake to close the Democratic Society Party (DTP). Cohn-Bendit, who arrived in Turkey upon Zaman's invitation, said there is a multi-lateral pressure on DTP and claimed DTP politicians should be given some time.

Turkey took another major step in nuclear energy. President Abdullah Gul ratified the legislation allowing the construction of nuclear energy plants.
The ministry of energy will supervise the tender process for the nuclear energy plant construction.
