Turkish And Spanish Defense Ministers To Attend Ceremony To Be Held On Anniversary Of Plane Crash In Trabzon

TRABZON - Turkish National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul and Spanish Defense Minister Jose Bono would attend a ceremony to commemorate victims of a plane crash in Macka town of northern Trabzon province on its first anniversary, sources said on Friday.
A meeting was held at the Trabzon Governor's Office on the same day related with the ceremony.
Gonul, Bono, Spanish Ambassador to Turkey Manuel de la Camara and relatives of Spanish soldiers and crew members who died in the plane crash will attend the ceremony to be held in Macka's Kockina hamlet on May 26.
Turkish security forces will tighten security measures during the ceremony.
An Ukrainian plane carrying Spanish Peace Force soldiers who were serving in Afghan capital Kabul had crashed into Macka's Kockina hamlet on May 26, 2003.
Sixty-two Spanish soldiers and 13 crew members including 12 Ukrainians and one Belarussian had lost their lives in the plane crash.
