ROME - Turkish Agriculture & Rural Affairs Minister Mehmet Mehdi Eker said Tuesday Italy and Bahrain wanted to invest in Turkish agricultural sector.
"Bahrain and Italy are interested in investing Turkey. Italian Agriculture Minister Paolo De Castro will visit Turkey in spring together with a delegation of Italian businessmen," said Mehdi Eker, who traveled to Italy to attend United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) conference.
"Italians want to discuss investment opportunities in fruit and vegetable sector. They also told us that they were willing to improve cooperation on fishery and animal husbandry," Eker told the A.A.
Eker said Turkey and Italy would probably sign a cooperation agreement on agriculture during the Italian minister's trip to Turkey.
"I also met U.S. Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Conner. Turkey and United States have agreed on a memorandum of understanding regarding agricultural cooperation. We will soon sign it," he added.
