Turkish, U.S. Generals Debate Cooperation In Fight Against Terrorism

ANKARA - Turkish General Staff said Tuesday Turkish and U.S. generals debated cooperation in fight against their common enemy, the terrorist organization PKK.
Gen. James Cartwright, the vice chairman of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of multinational force in Iraq, met Gen. Ergin Saygun, the deputy chief of Turkish General Staff, at the General Staff HQ in Ankara.
"The generals discussed Iraq, ongoing cooperation in fight against our common enemy PKK and comprehensive intelligence sharing," an information note posted on the General Staff web-page said.
According to information note, Saygun, Cartwright and Petraeus held this meeting as a part of the coordination Turkey and United States launched in military issues after the meeting that took place between Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President George W. Bush in Washington D.C. on November 5th.
