ANKARA - Turkish President Abdullah Gul will travel to Georgia on Tuesday to break ground for a railway project with Georgian and Azerbaijani presidents.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) project covers the construction of a railroad between Turkey and Georgia. The project will help connect railway networks of the three countries by linking the railroad (between Turkey and Georgia) to current line in Azerbaijan.
The BTK network will become a transportation corridor from Caspian Sea to China, in the east, and Europe, in the west, once it is connected to "Marmaray" project, a rail tube tunnel system under the Istanbul Strait.
During his trip to Georgia, President Gul will hold bilateral and trilateral talks with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on economy, energy, transportation and regional issues.
Gul and Saakashvili will also attend the Turkish-Georgian Business Forum and sign two agreements regarding free trade and double taxation.
Gul will return to Turkey on Wednesday.
