Cicek On Fight Against Terrorism

ANKARA - Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, who is also the spokesman for the government, said on Monday that terrorism can not be eliminated with only one measure.
Speaking to reporters after Council of Ministers meeting, Cicek said, "fight against terrorism has military, diplomatic, political and economic sides. We are trying to take all those measures and do whatever necessary. The government has no hesitation to make decisions."
"The United States, Iraq, EU authorities, NATO as well as Islamic countries clearly expressed that Turkey has the right to defend itself. In order to prevent any exploitation, it was very clearly stated that Turkey's target is directly the terrorist organization and those who collaborate with it," Cicek said.
Cicek said seeking remedy in a democratic country would be made through democratic methods.
Cicek also said the government would send social security reform to parliament this week, indicating that, "We will send the law to parliament before the week's end. The law needs to be passed by Jan. 1, 2008."
