E.U. General Affairs And External Relations Council Meeting

BRUSSELS - Foreign ministers of European Union (EU) member countries on Monday called on Iraq and regional administration in north of Iraq to give assurances that, "Iraqi territory could not be used for attacks against neighboring countries."
In decisions made at EU General Affairs and External Relations Council meeting, it was emphasized that EU attaches importance to dialogue and cooperation between Turkey and Iraq in dealing with terrorism.
The decisions also expressed pleasure over the Conference of Countries Neighboring Iraq that took place in Istanbul in November, and noted that, "constructive stance of neighboring countries and international partners are needed for peace and stability in Iraq and the region. Within this scope, all partners should abide by their commitments in the final statement of Istanbul meeting."
The EU foreign ministers also indicated that neighboring countries should contribute to political stability of Iraq whose territorial integrity should be preserved.
