Turkish Government Plans To Cut Social Security Premiums To Reduce Unemployment

ESKISEHYR - Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said that government plans to make a reduction in social security premiums paid by employers and noted that its timing will be set by the Council of Ministers.
"One of our government's priorities is to fight unemployment and it is highlighted in our program," Unakitan told the A.A.
Asked about reports claiming that there was a downturn in tax revenues since the new tax return system did not require collecting receipts, Unakitan said the system is widespread in the world.
"It was a difficulty for our people. But of course everyone has to continue to ask for receipts. Besides, there is no downturn in tax revenues. We achieved our targets. But there is a decline in net tax income because of tax returns, especially in exports," Unakitan said.
He also added that the government carries out necessary policies regarding low exchange rates and valuable New Turkish Lira.
