MOSCOW - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters prior to the meeting, Lavrov said their relations with Turkey had been improving and thanked Turkey for its support to Russia's candidacy for Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) observer membership.
Meanwhile, Gul said they attributed great importance to their relations with Russia and he was the first Turkish Foreign Minister paying an official visit to Moscow since 1996.
Gul said that he had come to Moscow to attend OIC and Middle East Quartet (Russia, the United States, the European Union EU and the United Nations) meeting on Palestine issue and he was pleased with meeting Lavrov.
