ISTANBUL - Bogdan Tanjevic of Serbia-Montenegro has formally signed a three-year contract to coach the Turkish National Basketball Team.
In a news conference in Istanbul on Thursday, Tanjevic said he had started a new mission with great targets.
We have to make long-term plans and find appropriate players, Tanjevic said and added that he was happy that he would coach a young and powerful team.
57-year-old coach Tanjevic is considered one of the most successful coaches in Europe.
During his 33-year career, Tanjevic had great achievements with both clubs and national teams in former Yugoslavia, Italy and France.
Previously, Tanjevic served as the coach of Asvel basketball club of France who clinched French championship and played French Cup final in 2002.
