Turkey Raises $79 Million Income Through Exports Of Hazelnuts

TRABZON - Turkey has exported 181 thousand 70 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 679 million 441 thousand 683 U.S. dollars in the 35th week of hazelnut export season which started on September 1, 2003.
Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent on Tuesday that Turkey had been exporting hazelnuts to 80 countries.
They said that Turkey exported 142 thousand 779 tons of hazelnuts to the European Union (EU) countries, 21 thousand 509 tons of hazelnuts to other European countries, 10 thousand 351 tons of hazelnuts to overseas countries and 6 thousand 431 tons of hazelnuts to other countries.
In the same period of the previous export season, Turkey had exported 223 thousand 249 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 508 million 965 thousand 776 U.S. dollars.
