ANTAKYA - Turkish police confiscated 26.2 kilograms of heroin in Dortyol town of southern Hatay province, Hatay Police Chief Cafer Sahin said on Monday.
Sahin told a press conference that Turkish police disguised as buyers and contacted a group of people who wanted to market their heroin.
Police had learned that people who wanted to sell their heroin, which was thought to be brought from Iran to eastern Van province and then to Hatay, were hiding the heroin in a house in Dortyol town, Sahin said.
Sahin stated that police confiscated 26.2 kilograms of heroin hidden in the house in their operation.
Four people were detained in the operation, Sahin said.
Sahin pointed out that the heroin had a market value of about 1.5 trillion Turkish liras (TL), adding that police were searching for another person in connection with heroin trafficking.
