ANKARA - The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) has said that number of newly established companies increased by 52.51 percent in April of 2004 over to the same month of previous year.
Releasing a statement, the DIE said on Saturday that 3,645 new companies and 3,579 new trade names with a total capital of 291.7 quadrillion Turkish liras (TL) were established.
Within the same month, 2,425 companies increased their capital by 2 quadrillion TL, 14 companies with total capital of 21 trillion TL changed their status, 454 companies with total capital of 3 trillion TL were liquidated.
Numbers and fields of activity of the newly established companies are as follows: 1139 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 901 manufacturing; 408 construction; 343 transport, storage, communication; 290 real estate services; 123 hotels and restaurants; 103 finance; 95 agriculture, hunting, forestry; 69 medical and social services; 68 education; 45 other community, social and personal services; 35 mining and quarrying; 17 electricity, gas, water; 7 fishing; 2 administrative activities of a government, defense obligatory social security.
Numbers and fields of activity of the companies which increased their capital are as follows: 760 manufacturing; 666 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 342 construction; 236 transport, storage, communication; 147 real estate services; 54 finance; 52 hotels and restaurants; 52 other community, social and personal services; 35 medical and social services; 31 education; 20 mining and quarrying; 15 electricity, gas, water; 11 agriculture, hunting, forestry; and 4 fishing.
Meanwhile, 14 companies have changed their status. Numbers and fields of activity are as follows: 4 manufacturing; 4 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 2 construction; 2 hotels and restaurants; 1 transport, storage, communication; and 1 real estate services.
Numbers and fields of activity of the liquidated companies are as follows: 149 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 115 manufacturing; 75 construction; 35 transport, storage, communication; 29 real estate services; 14 medical and social services; 11 hotels and restaurants; 9 other community, social and personal services; 8 finance; 4 mining and quarrying; 4 education; and 1 agriculture, hunting, forestry.
