Turkey: Immediate Dispatch Of Soldiers To Afghanistan Is Out Of Question

ANKARA - Immediate dispatch of Turkish soldiers to Afghanistan was out of question, Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Friday.
Gul told reporters that Turkey would not be indifferent to developments in Afghanistan and this issue should be taken up in the long-term.
''But, we haven't received any demand to send soldiers to Afghanistan yet,'' Gul said.
Gul stated that countries continuously focused on development, reconstruction and security of Afghanistan.
Even if Turkey sent soldiers to Afghanistan, those soldiers would only be there to show Turkey's presence not to battle, Gul said.
Gul recalled that Turkey thought that certain countries should serve certain regions in Afghanistan for the reconstruction of that country and in that context, Turkey preferred certain regions.
