Istanbul Conference Will Help Establish An Iraq That Turkey Wishes To See, Babacan

ANKARA - Turkish FM & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Ali Babacan said Thursday that the Istanbul conference on Iraq will help to establish a country (Iraq) that Turkey wishes to see.
Babacan informed the press on the upcoming conference on Iraq in Istanbul.
"(Up to now) Turkey has worked with neighboring countries on Iraq by paying attention to the territorial integrity, political unity of Iraq and happiness of Iraqi people," told Babacan.
"Also, Turkey has made efforts so that the negative incidents in Iraq do not harm regional peace and stability," noted Babacan.
Babacan reminded that to date FMs of Iraq's neighboring countries have held nine official and four unofficial meetings.
Babacan stated that the Istanbul meeting on November 2nd and 3rd will be attended by representatives from the United States, Germany, Bahrain, France, Britain, Iraq, Iran, Italy, Japan, Canada, Kuwait, Egypt, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, European Union, Arab League, United Nations and Organization of the Islamic Conference.
He reminded the topics to be debated at the Istanbul meeting as "preservation of Iraq's national unity and territorial integrity, strengthening the U.N.'s role in Iraq, Iraqi refugees, evaluation of the activities of Working Groups on energy and security in Iraq, contributions to be made to Iraq by neighbors countries and the international community, and strengthening relations with Iraq in the fight against terrorism."
