ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said a new constitution would primarily aim at protecting democratic, secular and social principles of the country, as well as "sensitivities" of every Turkish citizen, and the nation's basic values.
Addressing a discussion panel on Thursday on efforts to draft a new constitution, Erdogan said his government would take into consideration all possible criticisms that may be expressed by different social circles.
"This is not a constitution for the political party I am heading, this is only a draft we prepare and it will be submitted to parliament soon (for discussion)," Erdogan told the panel -- "Turkey is Searching for its Constitution."
Turkish Premier also said his government was aiming for a wide consensus from all the segments of the society, adding that the draft constitution would be opened for an extensive discussion.
