WASHINGTON D.C. - Sean McCormack, a spokesman with the U.S. Department of State, said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would share U.S. views on how to make more effective the existing mechanisms between Turkey, Iraq and the U.S. during a visit to Ankara on Friday.
"I think the Turks understand very well at a political as well as a diplomatic level, and the military level, our views on a unilateral ground incursion into Iraq," McCormack said during a daily press briefing.
"We want to do everything we can to help Turkey protect itself and defend itself from terrorist attacks that may be emanating from Iraq. And that's why we're trying to work through the diplomatic channels," he said.
