Economic Relations Will Be Negatively Affected By Iran's Decision To Take Management Of Imam Khomeini Airport From Turkey

ANKARA - Economic relations between Turkey and Iran would be negatively affected by Iran's decision to take the management of Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport from the Turkish company, Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Namik Tan said on Wednesday.
Tan told a weekly press briefing that Turkey expected the problem to be solved as soon as possible.
Turkey continued its initiatives in several levels regarding the issue, Tan said.
Tan stated that Turkey had expressed its expectation that the problem should be solved as soon as possible in several platforms and levels.
''Such an impasse in one of the most important projects undertaken by Turkish companies in Iran and unjust treatment towards the Turkish company may deter other Turkish companies from undertaking projects in Iran. Our economic relations will be negatively affected by such a development. We can see that the problem stems from technical issues like internal and institutional affairs of Iran,'' Tan said.
Tan expressed Turkey's wish to further improve economic relations with Iran.
Iran had encouraged Turkish businessmen to invest in Iran so far, Tan said.
Therefore, Tan noted, there was a ''contradiction'' here.
Tan expressed belief that the problem would be solved as soon as possible.
