Ship Carrying Trucks Sinks Off Karpas Cape In Turkish Republic Of Northern Cyprus

MERSIN - A ship sank off Karpas cape in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), 24 out of 26 crew members have been rescued and search-rescue efforts are under way to find the two missing crew members, sources said on Tuesday.
Officials from the Coast Guard Mediterranean Region Command told the A.A that a Turkish-flagged Ro-Ro ship ''DOLPHIN 2'' had freighted trucks at Turkey's southern port of Mersin last night, adding that the 2,900 gross ton DOLPHIN 2 sank 15 nautical miles off Karpas cape early on Tuesday.
Officials said the cause of sinking was not known.
Two boats and two helicopters rescued 24 out of the 26 people and brought them to the TRNC while efforts are under way to find the two missing people, officials added.
