ANKARA - Turkish General Staff said Sunday an armed attack was staged by members of terrorist organization PKK on a Turkish military unit in Daglica region of southeastern province of Hakkari, stating that 12 soldiers died and 16 others were wounded in the clash.
"A crowded group of PKK terrorists who infiltrated from the north of Iraq to our territory mounted an armed attack from three separate regions on a military unit in Hakkari/Daglica at 00:20 a.m. on October 21st. 12 soldiers died and 16 others were wounded in the clash that erupted between security forces and terrorists," a statement on website of General Staff said.
The statement noted 23 terrorists were killed in the clash, stating that 63 suspected targets were shelled. Operations are continuing, it added.
