ANKARA - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will pay a visit to Turkey between May 20 and 21, sources said on Friday.
Diplomatic sources stated that Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul called Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania and they quoted Gul as telling Zhvania that they were pleased with solution of tension in Georgia.
The same sources stated that Saakashvili's visit to Turkey was brought onto the agenda during phone conversation between Gul and Zhvania and quoted Gul as saying that they expected Saakashvili to pay a visit to Turkey and they would be pleased to host Saakashvili. Gul said that issues would be discussed in detail during Saakashvili's visit.
Noting that Zhvania said that they were pleased with solution of problem between Georgia and autonomous Republic of Adzharia, sources quoted Zhvania as saying that they could not have solved the issue that way without Turkey's understanding and support.
