20th Meeting Of Comcec Follow-up Committee To Be Held In Istanbul On May 11-13

ANKARA - The 20th meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) Follow-up Committee will be held at Istanbul's The Marmara Hotel between May 11 and 13.
A statement of State Planning Organization (DPT) said on Friday that the meeting would be hosted by Turkey and held under the chairmanship of Turkey and stated that a delegation headed by State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener would represent Turkey in the meeting.
The statement recalled that COMCEC, which continued its activities since 1984, was responsible for improvement of multi-lateral economic and commercial cooperation and coordination among member countries.
The statement noted that the Follow-up Committee had prepared COMCEC's agenda and that it reviewed the implementation of COMCEC resolutions.
The committee had taken recommendatory resolutions about this issue, the statement stressed.
It noted that developments in implementation of Economic Cooperation Action Plan, improvement of trade among member countries, issues related with activities of World Trade Organizations, cooperation among private sectors and investments of private sector in Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member countries were among the items of the agenda of the meeting.
Delegations from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, Iran, Burkina Faso, Qatar, Kuwait and Nigeria would participate in the meeting, the statement said.
The draft agenda of 20th COMCEC meeting scheduled to be held in Istanbul this November would also be prepared at the Follow-up Committee meeting, the statement added.
